Father and son killed in Consolacion stabbing

A 46-year-old man and his father were found dead after a neighbor allegedly stabbed them separately in their respective residences in sitios Libo and Sun-oc, barangay Tayud, Consolacion the other day and yesterday.

Consolacion policemen discovered first the body of Ronie Secuya at 7 p.m. of Thursday after responding to information regarding the stabbing incident.

Consolacion deputy chief of police, P/Insp. Emma dela Cerna yesterday told The FREEMAN that Ronie's body, found sprawled on the floor inside his house, bore a stab wound on the chest. Police recovered a flamenco believed to have been used in the killing.

Ronie's father Fermin, who lived a kilometer away from sitio Libo, was also found dead with stab and hack wounds all over his body at 6:00 a.m. yesterday.

Witnesses pointed to a certain Alejandro Ybañez Jr., 25, single, a neighbor of Ronie, as the culprit. However, police did not recover the "pinoti" which was believed to have been used in the killing of Fermin.

Dela Cerna said that some witnesses described the suspect to be a "rugby user" who had the habit of threatening neighbors that he would kill them all.

A follow-up investigation is still being conducted to determine the real motive of the two stabbing incidents.

Meanwhile, a farmer was stabbed to death allegedly by his neighbor in Carcar town. The incident happened reportedly out of self-defense when the farmer allegedly struck the suspect with a piece of wood last Thursday afternoon.

Benjamin Java, 49, married, a resident of sitio Danao, barangay Valencia, was stabbed by his neighbor identified as one Samuel Canencia using a flamenco that the latter was supposed to use in slaughtering a goat for a birthday celebration.

The victim was said to have been hit twice in his abdomen. He was rushed to the Carcar District Hospital, but expired minutes after.

Carcar Police station desk officer PO3 Reynaldo Fuentes said that based on the initial investigation conducted by SPO3 Jonas Pananganan, the victim had a fight with his older brother that afternoon. When the suspect attempted to mediate and pacify, Java reportedly got mad and struck the suspect's left thigh twice with a piece of wood.

Fuentes said the suspect surrendered to PO1s Gregy Abasolo, Lyman Norifel Arsua and Jessie Emmanuel Gabot of the Regional Mobile Group who turned him over to SPO3 Raffy Satera, the duty desk officer of the Carcar Police station. - Norvie S. Misa
