Elements of the Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division-7 went to the CIDG-7 office yesterday morning to serve the warrant of arrest for Ronald Waskin, who was arrested during an entrapment operation in barangay Mabolo last Thursday noon after complainants alleged he illegally recruited them.
The warrant was issued by judge Agustin Vestil of Regional Trial Court Branch 56 in Manduae City last October 5. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
It turns out Waskin was not the young faith healer made famous after he was featured ina nationwide TV show in the 90s. This after the real "Coco Boy" appeared at the CIDG office yesterday morning to deny that he was involved in illegal recruitment.
Odinico Dagaraga, 23, of barangay Tisa, Cebu City, and his aunt appeared at the CIDG-7 office yesterday morning to clear his name. Dagaraga said he became worried after many people came and asked him if he was arrested for illegal recruitment.
He is now working in one of the call centers here in Cebu City after finishing Information Technology.
Waskin also claimed he was a faith healer known as "Coco Boy" in his hometown in Asturias where he met Virgie Miyoki, the one who was behind the recruitment.
As of yesterday 30 complainants have shown up at the CIDG office to lodge their complaints against Waskin.
All of them said that they were promised high-paying jobs as production workers in Singapore if they could pay P20,000 for their applications. - Flor Z. Perolina
