The policeman who had his ASEAN Summit identification card photocopied and gave the copy to a friend who is engaged in selling DVDs is now under camp restriction.
PO1 Benjie Gan, a Field Training Program policeman of Region-7, who is currently assigned as a beat policeman at the Fuente Police station was placed under the custody of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, while an administrative case has been prepared against him.
He was also disarmed of his service firearm while an investigation has been conducted on him.
Gan, together with his friend Anodin Dumarpa, were apprehended last Saturday afternoon after a photocopy machine attendant called up the police to inform them he got puzzled as to why the cop had his ASEAN ID photocopied and then gave the copy to a DVD trader.
Gan, when investigated, said that Dumarpa asked for a photocopy of his summit ID to prove to his friends that he has a policeman-friend.
He, however, failed to explain why he was at the Colon area when he was supposed to be at his assigned post at the Waterfront Hotel.
