A 23-year-old was killed by two unidentified men while walking along Tormis Street in barangay Sambag Uno the other night.
Police identified the victim as Harry Atega, 23, a resident of Don Pedro Cui Street in Sta. Ana, Manila, but a native of San Miguel town in Bohol
SPO3 Zenaido Pastorfide, homicide investigator of the Cebu City Police Office, said two unidentified men shot the victim in the middle of the road before casually walking away.
The victim was killed instantly after being shot once in the right side of the body and again in the right side of his head.
Pastorfide said nobody around the crime scene knew the victim. He still has his wallet that contained identification cards, a gun license and a permit to carry firearms outside residence (PTCFOR) for a 9mm cal. pistol.
Operatives of the Scene of the Crime Operations recovered two empty .45 cal. shells from the ground and P32,855.25 cash, sunglasses, a Timex wristwatch and a motorcycle key from the victims' body. They did not find the gun covered by the license.
Pastorfide said the victim's father Rodulfo said his son just left Bohol for Cebu last Monday without telling him and only told him later when he called him by cellphone.
The victim said his son only finished the first year of his Bachelor of Science in Criminology course in Tagbilaran City because of financial problems and he went to look for work in Manila.
The victim reportedly worked for an electronics supply store but returned to Bohol after he was laid off a few months ago, Rodulfo suspects that his son might have been killed out of revenge or because of a woman, but did not give further details.
Meanwhile, Pastorfide said they will be checking the authenticity of the PTCFOR and the gun license of the victim with the Firearms, Explosives Security Agency and Guards Supervisory-7. - Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
