Tejero fire truck hits and kills woman

-
A mini-fire truck reportedly owned by barangay Tejero hit and killed a widow along D. Jakosalem Street near City Hall last Friday morning.

Traffic investigators said Felicula Caga-anan Tuozo, a resident Junquera street, barangay Kamagayan, was crossing the said street heading for city hall when the mini-firetruck hit her.

The driver identified as Emmanuel Hernani, 50, later surrendered to the Traffic Group a few hours after the incident.

Investigation report of SPO1 Nelson Jayme of the Traffic Group said the Toyota mini-firetruck bearing plate number YBB-524 driven by Hernani was recklessly speeding at the said place and hit the crossing victim.

Because of the impact, the victim flew several meters away from the point of impact and landed on the concrete with serious injuries to the body and head.

The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where she later died.

The police report did not say if it was the driver who rushed the victim to the hospital only that he surrendered past 2 p.m. on the same day.

The Freeman learned through SFO2 Ferdinand Paco of the Cebu City Fire Bureau of Fire Protection based on their records there were no fire alarms reported in Tejero or any part of the city that morning especially near the vicinity of the Cebu City Hall. - Edwin Ian Melecio
