Snatchers riding on motorcycles struck Thursday evening and got the bag of a 56-year-old woman at Saint Joseph Heights in barangay Yati, Liloan.
The two unidentified snatchers fled with the bag containing P4000 in cash, an P8000 worth of cell phone, assorted identification cards and personal documents, said the victim Lambra Aguisanda.
Liloan Police desk officer, SPO2 Rizalino Aligno, said Aguisanda had just arrived from Cebu City and was walking on her way home when a motorcycle, with two men riding on it, stopped on her tracks only a few meters from her house gate.
The rider on the motorcycle's back seat alighted, met Aguisanda and quickly grabbed her gray shoulder bag. The driver just waited astride the motorcycle and served as lookout.
Aligno said Aguisanda grappled for possession of her bag then shouted for help from neighbors. Nobody came however, as no one heard her apparently.
The more powerful snatcher eventually subdued Aguisanda and ran off with her bag to his waiting companion and fled on their motorcycle. The victim fell to the ground in shock.
Aligno said the victim failed to identify the snatchers that sped off toward barangay Tayud of the town. The police are still conducting follow-up operations against the snatchers. - Norvie S. Misa
