The Department of Interior and Local Government wants local government units to give full support to the upcoming development programs involving the youth.
DILG Undersecretary Wencelito Andanar issued a memorandum circular encouraging provincial governors, city and municipal mayors to allow their respective Sangguniang Kabataan Federation presidents and young local legislators to attend the national conference on youth networking and localization to be held from February 16-18 next year in Panglao, Bohol.
Andanar said the conference aims to generate a better understanding of the Philippine Medium Term Youth Development Plan from 2005 to 2010.
It will also provide necessary information on skills and youth networking and localization and to synchronize youth development efforts into a single framework.
Most importantly the program aims to concretize means to ensure youth participation in community development efforts.
There are already more than 50 Local Youth Development Councils nationwide created by the respective SK city, provincial and regional federations aimed at implementing the Medium Term Youth Development Plan.
Payment of traveling expenses and reasonable registration fee and other costs that will be incurred will be covered by the local funds except those belonging to the 20 percent Development Fund. - Ferliza C. Contratista
