PSG man nabbed for poking gun at PUJ dispatcher

A Presidential Security Group member who is part of the augmentation force for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit was arrested for allegedly poking a gun at a public utility jeepney dispatcher at a PUJ terminal in the North Reclamation Area the other night.

The soldier, identified as Staff Sergeant Richard Josol, was reportedly drunk when he was arrested by elements of the Mobile Patrol Group. He was later found positive during a liquor test at the Cebu City Medical Center.

Police also took Josol's issued .45 caliber pistol loaded with eight bullets. However, he was able to present necessary documents when asked for the gun's papers.

The PUJ dispatcher, however, refused to file criminal charges against the soldier but the police have indicted the suspect for drunkenness, which is a violation of City Ordinance 1929, which carries a P500 fine.

Meanwhile, a member of the Philippine Air Force was arrested after he reportedly broke the windshield of an owner-type jeep while walking in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu city.

Police identified the suspect as A1C Joseph Aquino Abrigo, a member of PAF's 205th Tactical Air Wing based in Benito Ebuen Airbase.

Investigation conducted by police led by PO2 Christian Torres said Abrigo broke the windshield of the parked vehicle owned by a certain Rey Monsanto, who then sought for police assistance.

Both parties have agreed to settle the case out of court after the soldier promised to pay for the damage. - Edwin Ian Melecio/LPM
