The victim was identified as Rodrigo Obaob, married and a resident of sitio Ilang-Ilang, Lagtang, Talisay City.
Obaob was reportedly driving his motorcycle from the southern part of the national road on the way to Poblacion, Minglanilla. Upon reaching said place, he reportedly hit a 4th-year high school student identified as 15-year-old Rosell Agus.
Agus was reportedly walking at the street side, out from school, when Obaob hit her. He was said to have lost control of his vehicle. He landed a distance from his driven motorcycle after he hit Agus.
After that, a speeding ten-wheeler truck loaded with empty bottles of softdrinks ran over Obaob, which caused his death.
The truck driver identified as one Danilo Surigao, 46, married, of La Purisima Street, Tulik, Argao town turned himself over to the Minglanilla Police. SPO1 Ricky Larrobis yesterday said that Surigao told him he did not notice the motorcycle driven by the victim.
But later noticed something that somewhat exploded from under the cargo truck he was driving. "Nag-una man gud ning biktima ug nagsunod ning nakaligis, pagkasaghid ni Obaob sa tinun-an na out of control ni siya og didto hinuon punta sa tunga sa dalan," Larrobis explained.
Meanwhile, Agus is in safe condition after she sustained bruises on her arms and legs. Larrobis said that there was a possible settlement between Obaob's relatives and the owner of the cargo truck after they met at the police station yesterday morning. - Norvie S. Misa/MEEV
