Another worker of the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) met an accident yesterday when he fell from the ceiling where he was installing cable wires.
Buen Nuñez, 24, of sitio Kaimitohan in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, is a worker of Stage Craft International tapped by the Presidential Broadcast Staff (Radio-Television Malacañang) to help install its gadgets at the International Broadcast Center of the CICC.
Ernesto Viernes, head of the CICC-Project Monitoring Office, said Nuñez was laying out cable wires on the ceiling at the lobby on the second floor when he slipped off from the concrete beam he was stepping on.
Nuñez, who landed on the stairway around six feet from the ceiling, was immediately rushed to the nearby Mandaue City Hospital.
Viernes said Nuñez only sustained minor injuries and that his employer immediately attended to his needs. Nuñez was the second CICC worker to survive from a fall.
The first was 26-year-old Ronnie Oaminal of barangay Mactan also in Lapu-Lapu City. He is a worker of the CICC main contractor, WT Construction Inc.
But on October 11, 33-year-old Hermogenes Adlawan was electrocuted while working near the rooftop of the CICC. - Cristina C. Birondo
