PDEA agents nab woman for drugs

-
Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 raided the house of a suspected drug pusher along Abellana Street, barangay Suba yesterday morning.

The operatives were there for Teresa Abellana but she was not around and only her mother Feditha, 55, was home.

The operatives recovered five medium packs and five small plastic packs of suspected shabu estimated to be worth over P50,000 and drug paraphernalia from the house. They also confiscated US$78 and P16,700, believed to be proceeds of the illegal drug trade.

The raid was witnessed by some media personnel and barangay councilman Roger Resurreccion.

Policemen told reporters yesterday that they have been conducting surveillance on Abellana for two weeks now after they received information about her illegal trade. Last week they were able to buy a pack of shabu from her worth P1,000.

Abellana, who allegedly took over the drug trader after her husband died, denied owning the shabu and claimed it was planted by the policemen.

"Ang akong pag umangkon nakakita gyud sa taga PDEA nga gibutang ra ang shabu. Gani maka ila to ang akong pag umangkon sa taga PDEA nga nibutang sa shabu atol sa ronda," she said.

PDEA 7 director Amado Marquez said Feditha is part of the notorious Abellana group known to be engaged in the illegal drugs trade.

PDEA has listed Abellana as a level 2 drug pusher, who can dispose of at least 200 grams of shabu.

The suspected shabu was brought to the crime laboratory for examination while appropriate charges are being prepared against Abellana. - Ramil V. Ayuman and Norvie S. Misa
