Another patrol car of the Mobile Patrol Group of the Cebu City Police Office figured in another accident, this time against an armored car of a security agency.
Patrol Car 237, a Tamaraw FX, driven by Sinfroño Aliño, a civilian, along with PO2 Alejandro Laborte and PO1 Japeth Malima, was speeding toward F. Cabahug Street in barangay Mabolo when the incident happened.
The policemen were responding to a report about the theft of telephone lines along the said street but upon reaching Juan Luna Ave., the patrol car hit the bumper of the armored car, damaging the left headlight of the police car.
No one was hurt but the driver and the policemen on board the patrol car failed to take note of the plate number of the armored van, including the name of the security agency, because the vehicle reportedly did not stop and just sped away.
Two weeks ago, Mayor Tomas Osmeña blew his top and ordered the return of 10 Toyota Innova patrol cars to the city after PO2 Junicar Estiñoso and his partner PO1 Stuart Balang figured in an accident.
