Subcontractor killed in motorcycle crash

-
A subcontractor of Tsuneishi Heavy Industries in Balamban town was killed after the motorcycle he was riding crashed along the national highway in barangay Abucayan past midnight yesterday

The fatality was identified as Ricky Bustamante, 36, married, a resident of sitio Kalag-itan, barangay Buanoy, Balamban town, and an employee of Metaphil based in the town.

Bustamante, who sustained several injuries in different parts of his body, died before reaching the Balamban District Hospital.

Initial police investigation said Bustamante was on his way home on board his motorcycle, bearing plate number II-8415, from the town proper when it crashed into the cemented road.

PO1 Celso Makidato, a desk officer of Balamban Police Station, told The Freeman that a team of policemen led by SPO4 Marcial Montebon immediately responded to the incident following a call from a security guard.

"Disgrasya lang gyud tong hitaboa," said Makidato, who added that residents of the place brought Bustamante to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors.

The latest incident was the third fatal motorcycle accident that happened in the province this month.

Siblings Roberto and Evelyn Medina and their neighbor Thelma Evarda died on the spot when the motorcycle they were riding collided head on with a cargo truck in Mantalongon, Dalaguete town Wednesday morning.

It was ironic that they just came from visiting the dead in the cemetery, only to join the dead later.

On Friday afternoon, Marie Mapoy died after the motorcycle that she and her husband were riding was hit by a still undetermined vehicle while they traveling to barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, from barangay Buhisan, Cebu City. - Norvie S. Misa/LPM
