Andres Oliveros, 25, a resident of sitio Liptong, of the same barangay, was allegedly shot by a certain Nikoy Egonia, of sitio Amonsan, barangay Catulohan, Dalaguete town.
Initial investigation conducted by the responding policemen composed of PO3 Agustin Romanos, PO3 Emelio Carungay, and PO2 Jason Oyangoren revealed that while the victim was driving his motorcycle, the suspect suddenly appeared from behind and without any reason allegedly shot the victim in the back once at close range.
The bullet exited from the victim's chest and hit the speedometer of his motorcycle where it lodged. When the assailant tried to shoot him again, the gun misfired.
The assailant casually left after the incident and is now being pursued by the police. The victim was brought to the Alcoy Rural Health Unit by his relatives but was declared dead on arrival.
Police said the victim's relatives reported the victim had no known enemies in their place. - Norvie S. Misa/BRP
