Flower vendors allowed to use P. Lopez Street

-
The city government has decided to temporarily close P. Lopez Street to allow flower vendors to display their products from October 30 to November 2.

This after the city council approved the resolution of Councilor Procopio Fernandez, chairman of the council committee on police, allowing vendors to use the street during its regular session last Wednesday.

"Nalipay g'yod kaayo mi nga gihatagan mi nila og dakong lugar nga kabaligyaan sa among mga buwak atol sa Kalag-kalag," said Monina Aguilar, a flower vendor.

The flower vendors can display their products along the whole stretch of P. Lopez Street but were advised to help keep the area clean.

Due to the closure of P. Lopez Street, a rerouting of vehicles would be implemented. Motorists who want to proceed to Carbon Market from Colon Street will be diverted to Borromeo Street and will turn left to Leon Kilat Street to Magallanes Street.

At present, the flower vendors are just occupying the sidewalks of Magallanes Street beside the so-called Freedom Park that contributed to traffic congestion.

This prompted the traffic authorities to suggest that the small stretch of P. Lopez Street should be closed to clear Magallanes Street. - Rene U. Borromeo
