Subdivision residents seek solution to water problem

A complaint over the water supply problem in a subdivision in Minglanilla town has been filed before the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board-7.

Antonio Dosado, former president of the Springwood Country Homes Subdivision, submitted the complaint signed by seven other residents, to compel subdivision developer Arcenas & Sons, to help do something about the problem.

Dosado, an engineer by profession, told HULRB-7 regional director Antonio Dedicatoria that subdivision residents have been "suffering water service interruption and the supposed-to-be potable water is murky most especially during heavy downpour."

Dosado wants the HLURB-7 technical group to conduct an inspection in the area and verify his complaint, so that the developer would have a basis also for corrective measures on the matter.

But the developers said that after the subdivision was turned over to the homeowners association, the latter has full responsibility already about the problem.

The water pump broke down last December 30, resulting in soil intrusion due to the collapse of the pipe casing. The developer still came in to repair the water pump but told the residents that there is no permanent solution to the problem anymore.

Last January 18, Marilou Arcenas, general manager of Arcenas & Sons, wrote Pompeyo Alunan, president of the homeowners association, and proposed to the group to let Helpmate Inc. supply water to the subdivision instead.

Arcenas said the association should take in Helpmate Inc. as the solution to the water supply problem because the developer can no longer handle the situation in view of the fact that the source of ground water is already insufficient.

Helpmate Inc. is now offering to supply water to residents at minimal cost.
