Man shoots brother dead

-
A 41-year-old construction worker was killed yesterday morning by his own brother whom he challenged to a fight reportedly to settle their argument that started last Saturday evening.

Homicide investigators identified the victim as Mario Diola Doble, who was killed instantly after sustaining two stab wounds to the right side of the chest and another to the left side of his torso.

The suspect was identified as Randy Doble, 36, who is also a construction worker living with the victim and their mother in sitio Sapang Komunidad, barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Their mother, Arsenia, 67, told investigators that prior to the incident, the two were drinking with their neighbors and friends.

The suspect reportedly told his older brother to go home since he was already drunk but the victim reportedly got irked and slapped his younger brother prompting the suspect to retaliate by punching and mauling his elder brother.

It was their neighbors and friends who stopped their fight and led them home.

Yesterday, the victim reportedly woke the neighborhood by challenging his brother to a fight to settle what happened the night before, but the suspect reportedly went outside bringing a knife and stabbed his brother without a second thought.

After the victim slumped to the ground, the suspect was able to flee before the arrival of PO2 Alvin Llamedo and PO1 Christopher Castro of the Mobile Patrol Group.

The victim was rushed to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival. - Edwin Ian Melecio
