Elements of the Borbon Police arrested Juanito Montealto, 25; Roy Planquero, 18; Joan Zozobrado, 24; and a 17-year-old boy who are all residents of Poblacion, Liloan town.
Confiscated from Montealto and Planquero were .38 caliber revolvers with five live bullets each. They are now detained at the town's police station after they failed to show pertinent documents on possession of said firearms.
But Zozobrado and the minor were released after the police found out they had no firearms in their possession and that they have no criminal records.
According to a report made by the Borbon Police, a concerned citizen informed them through their text hotline that four persons were sighted brandishing firearms while they were at the roadside waiting for a ride.
P/Insp. Alexander Ancao together with SPO2 Gualberto Arnado, PO2 Rolando Suson and PO1 Julius Vanguardia immediately responded to confirm the text message.
Ancao, the chief of the town police, told The FREEMAN that they ordered the four to disarm the moment they were arrested believing that all four have guns. Later on, they found out that only Montealto and Planquero had firearms. Ancao added that Montealto and Planquero were accompanying Zozobrado and the minor to a port in Bogo since the woman and the boy were bound for Masbate.
According to Ancao all four admitted to being members of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity and were temporarily residing at the residence of Montealto's uncle in barangay Laaw. They said they took refuge there after they decided to "lie low" on reports that their rival fraternity in Liloan is "hunting them down."
SPO1 Mori Magdadaro told The FREEMAN that charges for illegal possession of firearms were already filed yesterday morning against Montealto and Planquero. - Norvie S. Misa
