Policeman skips polygraph test

-
The policeman ordered to undergo a polygraph test in relation to the killing of a moneylender and her secretary last September 9 along C. Padilla Extension, barangay Tejero, did not report to the National Bureau of Investigation-7 last Wednesday.

But Criminal Investigation and Intelligence chief Supt. Pablo Labra said there is nothing illegal in this and it does not automatically mean guilt on the part of the said policeman but this could be used against him.

"It does not necessarily mean guilt, but it can be taken against him, ang ato lang ana kung wala siya'y gitaguan he must go, " Labra said.

Pilar Hernandez, 62, and her secretary Wevina Pancho were shot by a man inside PRH Lending Investment Incorporated last September 9.

Investigators believe that the suspect is a policeman as the lending firm caters only to policemen and the spent shells found in the crime scene came from a pistol with a caliber commonly issued to policemen.

A few weeks ago the city police conducted series of police lineups from the provincial police office, other police units outside Cebu province were also invited but the lineup produced nothing.

Meanwhile, acting city police director Melvin Gayotin told reporters that it is the policeman's right not to submit himself to such a test and clarified that a polygraph test is just an aid for the investigation and the results are not conclusive.

He did not say if he will file an administrative charge against the policeman for disobedience. - Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
