A 38-year-old bank manager was shot dead around 9 o'clock Tuesday night in what appears to be another case robbery while he was about to change a flat tire along Ouano Ave. of the Mandaue Reclamation Area, 300 meters from the boundary of Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Narciso Alivio Damole, a resident of Tres de Abril St. in Cebu City. He was manager of the AC Cortes Mandaue Branch of Allied Bank.
Still clad in a barong, which he always wore to work, Damole's lifeless body was seen sprawled beside his blue Toyota Vios with plate number GTJ 424 when the police arrived.
A security guard of Aztecs Trading, which is located near the crime scene, was the one who informed the Mandaue City Police Office about the incident.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds in his stomach and chest causing his instantaneous death.
Recovered from the scene were two empty shells and two live ammunition of a .45 cal. pistol.
S/Supt. Eduardo Catabas, director of the MCPO, said that they believe that this was a case of robbery. The police recovered the already empty wallet of Damole and the case for his cellular phone. They also noticed scratches on his left wrist where he probably wore his watch.
The police also noted the flat rear right tire of the vehicle, which led them to believe that Damole was about to replace the tire when the robbery took place.
Catabas said, "by chance ra gyud to ang nahitabo sa biktima kay nag-flat man na ang iyang sakyanan. Sa pagkakaron maglisod gyud mi pag identify kinsay responsible."
No witness has come out to identify the perpetrator of the crime, but people in the area said that they only saw a motorcycle and a bike pass the area, but were not able to see the features of the people riding them.
Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano has ordered the police to immediately solve the case.
SPO4 Raul Noynay, investigator of Subangdaku Police Station said that the car of the victim is now in the custody of the PNP Crime Laboratory so they could check for clues that might lead to the early solution of the case.
TV Patrol Central Visayas reported that Damole came from a meeting at the Allied Bank branch in Lapu-Lapu City before the incident. From there, he passed by his bank to withdraw P15,000 from the automated teller machine.
The guard of the establishment said that Damole even asked him where the nearest vulcanizing shop was probably sensing something wrong with one of his car's tires.
Radio station DYSS has reported that the family of the victim has offered a reward to anyone who can provide information that would lead to the perpetrator of the crime.-(/NLQ)
