Grandpa faces raps for raping three girls

-
A man from the island town of Madridejos was recently indicted for allegedly raping his three grandchildren that the parents have left and entrusted to him while they are working in Cebu City.

Rape charges were filed at the provincial prosecutor's office against Silvino Dimaymay, of barangay Bunakan, Madridejos, after his grandchildren-ages 7, 9, and 11-accused him of raping them since 2001.

The Madridejos Police arrested Dimaymay shortly after the mother of the victims sought help after learning of the abuses on her daughters.

The mother of the victims said she and her husband left to Dimaymay's care their children while they look for better prospects in the city.

When she and her husband went home to Madridejos last August 28, the mother noticed the eldest daughter somewhat having a problem and this prompted her to press them for answers.

The eldest girl told her mother that her two sisters also had similar problems, which the mother eventually learned about the ordeals her daughters underwent in the hands of their grandfather.

The victims said there were times when Dimaymay woke them up at midnight, but only to rape them. The 9-year-old girl said the grandfather started raping her from 2001 through August this year.

The 7-year-old girl, for her part, said her grandfather lately raped her last August 27 and this had been going on since last year. The eldest girl said she was raped since last year.

Dimaymay however denied the allegations although medical reports, from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, showed the three children were sexually abused. -Fred P. Languido/RAE
