Escaping suspects arrested after robbing fastfood outlet

Fuente policemen caught two suspected robbers while escaping after robbing a fastfood outlet on Don J. Aboitiz Street at barangay Camputhaw Sunday night.

The arrested suspects were 22-year-old Rogelio Ebardo Eballe of J. Labra Street in barangay Guadalupe, and 23-year-old Chester Saavedra Alchola of Gen. Junquera Extension in barangay Sta. Cruz.

Responding Fuente policemen, led by SPO3 Elmo Rosales, collared the two suspects while running away from the Burger Machine outlet that was manned only by Gigi Pardilla.

Police reports said that Eballe entered the outlet, then pointed a 9-inch knife at Pardilla and demanded the sales of the store. Alchola meanwhile stood nearby, acting as back-up.

Pardilla gave P200 only to the robbers saying that was the only sales she had after relieving the other salesladies a few hours earlier.

Eballe and Alchola then grabbed the canned softdrinks from the store's display and put these into their bag. They later saw a cash box and ordered Pardilla to give them the keys, which she reasoned out was not in her possession.

The suspects then started to open the box forcibly by banging it as hard as they could but failed. This prompted them to leave the place quickly but their way to escape led them directly to the waiting policemen.

PO1 Ernestine Mandelma told The Freeman that the people from neighboring stores first saw the suspects pointing a gun at Pardilla prompting them to call the police.

The police recovered from the suspects the P200 cash, and the 50 canned softdrinks worth P1,100. - Edwin Ian Melecio
