Two men on bike shoot man dead in Barangay Duljo
August 14, 2006 | 12:00am
Two men on a motorcycle shot dead an 18-year-old along Spolarium Street in barangay Duljo-Fatima yesterday dawn.
Police homicide investigators identified the victim as Joveniel Mandawe of sitio Buli. His assailants, who remained unidentified, were described as wearing black jackets and helmets, and covered their faces with cloth.
Investigators said Mandawe was standing along the road when the attackers arrived, the passenger then approached him and opened fire, hitting him in different parts of his body. The assailants then sped off towards barangay Pasil.
Anthony Tojeno, a friend of Mandawe, brought him to Cebu City Medical Center but the victim died hours later due to severe wounds.
Police could not yet determine if the victim has criminal records since the attack was identical with the manner used by suspected vigilantes, who already claimed at least 167 victims since December 22, 2004.
SPO1 Rey Cuyos of the Homicide Section learned that the victim has an enemy from neighboring sitio Punyang identified only as "Jun Lulu," who reportedly frequented the victim's place and asked about his whereabouts a few days ago.
But police could not yet ascertain if the man had something to do with Mandawe's killing. - Edwin Ian Melecio
