VECO announces schedule of brownouts this weekend

The Visayan Electric Company announced that more power service interruptions would occur in several areas of Cebu City this weekend.

From 8 a.m. to 12 noon today, brownouts will hit San Jose Extension, Machay Agri and Trading Corp., Family Choice Pharmacy and ES Visual and Graphics.

The four-hour brownout is due to VECO's works replacing a rotten pole along Rahman Street in barangay Camputhaw and transferring all attachments to the new pole.

Tomorrow Saturday, barangays Poblacion-Pardo and Toong would experience a four-hour brownout from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, when VECO would also replace rotten poles with 40-inch concrete poles along these barangays.

VECO meanwhile announced that on this same day, barangays Poblacion and Candulawan in Minglanilla town would also experience a six-hour power interruption from 6am to 12 noon, due to relocation of lines and poles across a private property there.

On Sunday, establishments from corner P. del Rosario Street to corner Sanciangko Street would have a six-hour power interruption, from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m., as VECO will upgrade the Ermita Substation's lines from 4.16-kilovolt to 13.8-kilovolt.

An 11-hour brownout, from 12:01 a.m. to 11 a.m., would also hit consumers along Sanciangko and Pelaez Streets including portions of Osmeña Boulevard.

VECO explained that it will transfer its load from the Ermita 104 and 257 feeders to the Ermita 250 feeder, to help relieve, distribute evenly and reduce the loading of the two feeders. - Wenna A. Berondo/RAE
