Ex-Tau Gamma official nabbed for illegal drugs

A suspected bigtime drug peddler who is reportedly the former local chairman of Tau Gamma Phi was arrested by elements of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group yesterday afternoon.

The suspect was identified as Chuck Lloyd Sanchez Maglasang, 26, of Cansaga, Consolacion town. Policemen swooped down on Maglasang's house after receiving information of his illegal activities.

Chief Inspector Fermin Armendares, chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Team, told The Freeman in a phone interview that Maglasang is a "level three" drug peddler.

Police said a "level three" drug pusher can dispose of over 200 grams of shabu a week.

The operation was conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 55 Judge Ulrich Cañete.

Although they seized a .22 caliber revolver and a .38 caliber revolver with live ammunitions during the raid, police failed to find illegal drugs except for several empty sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Maglasang reportedly admitted to police that he was a former local chairman of the Tau Gamma Phi. - Edwin Ian Melecio
