Cebu starts week-long celebration of 437th anniversary today

The week-long celebration of the 437th founding anniversary of Cebu province starts today with the theme "Dili Sulti Maoy Pabuhaton, Buhat Maoy Pasultion."

Governor Gwen Garcia, Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, Provincial Board members, and the mayors and vice-mayors of towns and component cities in the province would lead in the flag raising rites and hoisting of municipal colors at the Capitol grounds this morning.

Garcia and top Capitol officials would later launched the Trade Fair at the Capitol grounds, the Photo Exhibit at the second floor of the Capitol building, and the GUV's Cup Dayong-Dayon volleyball tournament.

During the get-together activity after the launchings, Capitol would confer special awards to local government units that achieved high survival rates of jackfruit trees they planted for the GWEN (Greening With our Environment Now) project.

Tomorrow, the Cebu Provincial Health Office will conduct the medical and wellness day for Capitol employees.

On Wednesday, the Wall of Fame would be unveiled in the new legislative building at the back of the Palace of Justice.

Thursday would be the finals of the sports events, which would also include the presentation of the proposed uniforms for Capitol employees next year.

On Friday, Garcia would inaugurate the provincial road asphalting projects and the 62 new classroom buildings in Cebu's first district. She would also turn over several multi-cabs, firefighting trucks, ambulances and computers to beneficiary towns and component cities.

The governor would later lead the awarding rites for the winners of the Trade Fair and Photo Exhibit competitions. In the evening, dyHP talents would present a play at the Capitol grounds.

Saturday night would be the Governor's Night, which would include the "Garbo sa Sugbu" awards and the Parade of Festival Queens.

The celebration would be concluded on August 6, Sunday, which is the Charter Day of the province. On this day would be the signing of the Collective Negotiation Agreement between the provincial government and employees.
