Dispatcher clubbed dead

A taxicab dispatcher died after being struck in the head with a steel pipe by a fellow taxicab dispatcher at the corner of Sangi Road, barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City Monday evening.
The victim was identified as Junior Fernandez alias "Ecleo", 50, of sitio Sandro, Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, while the assailant was Elenito Tariao, 32, his neighbor.
Police said prior to the incident, Fernandez and his wife, Berjia, were engaged in a fight with Tariao's uncle Erlito for still unknown reasons.
Erlito was eventually arrested by the police.
However, minutes after the incident, another fight ensued between Fernandez, who was armed with a knife, and Elenito, who was armed with a steel pipe.
Witnesses told the police that a brief chased ensued until Fernandez was cornered and Elenito struck him several times.
The victim sustained serious injuries in his head and was rushed by barangay tanods to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where doctors declared him dead on arrival. - Gregg M. Rubio
