Barangay councilman killed in road accident

Police yesterday filed a case for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide against a dump truck driver who accidentally hit a Lapu-Lapu City barangay councilman in Gabi, Cordova town, the other night.

SPO1 Laurencio Wagwag of the Cordova police identified the victim as Mauricio Limpangog, 46, a barangay kagawad of Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

In a report over ABS-CBN TV Patrol Cebu, Limpangog died while being brought to the Mactan Doctors' Hospital after he was hit by the dump truck driven by 37-year-old Oscar Tocal.

The report said the incident happened when Limpangog tried to overtake a multicab along the highway in Gabi while he was on his way home onboard a motorcycle.

"Mokiha g'yud mi kay namatay gud ang akong ig-agaw," said Pamela Tampos, a cousin of the victim.

Tocal voluntarily surrendered himself to the Cordova police after the accident. - Ramil V. Ayuman
