A five-year-old girl died when a bus ran her over shortly after she went out of a day-care center in barangay Sayaw, Barili town.
Town policeman Zalde Orillo reported that the victim just got out of the center and went along with the mother of her classmate to go to a beach resort where her own parents and grandfather were waiting for her for lunch.
As they cross to the other side of the road, the victim was trailing behind when the bus hit her, said Orillo.
The policeman said bus driver, 45-year-old Rodolfo Aledo Alipayan, failed to notice the victim crossing the road.
The bus belonged to Chan Transit, owned by Allan Chan, who promised to shoulder the expenses of the parents until burial.
The driver, for his part, immediately surrendered to the Barili Police Station. - Gregg M. Rubio
