College stude gunned down

A graduating student of a university was gunned down while on his way home after buying some food from a convenience store in sitio Tabay, barangay Carreta last Sunday. On the same day, a man was shot at and wounded while still another man was shot at by a group of men yesterday dawn.
Geno Sumalinog, studying at the Cebu Eastern College did not reach the Cebu City Medical Center alive.
The Mobile Patrol Group, which responded promptly, arrested suspected assailant Mario Debalucos. Police said an old grudge might have prompted the shooting.
Wounded and confined at the hospital were Castor Mahilom, Jr., 23, of barangay Duljo and Federico Canado, 34, of Salvador Extension, barangay Labangon.
At around 6 p.m. last Sunday, Mahilom was buying cigarette at a nearby store when attacked by one Alemar Jaburillo, a neighbor.
Mahilom sustained a gunshot wound on his back. Although wounded, Mahilom fought back. He was able to grab Jaburillo's .22 cal. Magnum revolver.
Jaburillo fled after the incident.
Yesterday dawn, Canada and a brother-in-law Bonifacio Paca, Jr. were riding a multi-cab passing along Carlock St., barangay San Nicolas, when attacked by three men armed with handguns.
Canada sustained gunshot wound on his body. His brother-in-law escaped unhurt. - Jose P. Sollano
