Woman stabs partner after tiff over daughter

A woman stabbed her live-in partner after they had a quarrel over their two-month-old daughter in barangay Siocon, Bogo town, last Saturday evening.

The victim was identified as Norman Sinadhan, 26, who was stabbed by Rowena Jarantilla, 24, a native of Panglao town, Bohol.

Jarantilla said that she was with Sinadhan drinking coconut wine in their neighbor's house during the incident. She said she drank some that time, but not too much.

"Ang akong bana maoy labihang huboga kay gipainom paman siya sa lain," she told the responding policemen.

Jarantilla said that they started arguing when her live-in partner disowned their two-month-old daughter.

She also alleged that her husband kicked the head of the baby while she was lying in bed.

The wife wanted to avoid trouble so she took their two daughters and went to her parent-in-law's house.

But her husband pursued her with a knife and they grappled for it, she said that since he was too inebriated she was able to disarm him, take the knife and stab him in the abdomen.

"Nalimot nako sa akong kaugalingon diha pay kahoy nga iyang gidala gud, nalupig lang siya nako sa kusog kay hubog man," Rowena said.

The victim was in critical condition when he was brought to the Bogo District Hospital, he was later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

PO3 Hazel Jugasan of Bogo Police Station said the suspect is under their custody but they still have to wait for the victim if he wants to file charges against the suspect. - Gregg M. Rubio
