A 27-year-old woman was found dead inside her rented room in Beverly Hills, barangay Busay, Cebu City yesterday morning after she was hacked by an assailant identified as one Roger Dacay.
Christine Joy Monsod sustained hack wounds on her head and on the different parts of her body, which caused her instantaneous death.
Initial investigation conducted by the police disclosed that at around 11 a.m. yesterday, Monsod was inside her room when Roger allegedly attacked her.
Neighbors of Monsod said they heard the woman shout for help while she was inside her rented room. But when a concerned neighbor checked on the woman minutes later, he found Monsod inside her room already lifeless.
"Naligo na sa iyang dugo ug wala nay kinabuhi ang biktima sa dihang among napalgan," the neighbor told the police investigator.
It was also the said neighbor who claimed he saw Dacay hurriedly leaving the place after the incident, eluding arrest.
Police are now looking into reports that the suspect and the victim had a heated argument before the killing happened. - Jose P. Sollano
