Talisay gets 11 more policemen

In a memorandum, acting city police chief P/Supt Romeo Perigo named the new members Police Inspectors Jason Mangaron, Carmelita Condevillamar, Rolly Lauron, Rosefiela Del Pilar, Ramon Marino, SPO3 Ricardo Viacrusis, SPO1 Joseph Glenn Burlas,PO3 Onofre Piquero, PO2 Diosebio Batulan, PO1 Erwin Carbonquillo, and PO1 Roy Sarsaba.
Meanwhile, Perigo had reassigned Sr. Insp Virgilio Orillaneda to another unit. No reason was given.
Last month, Mayor Socrates Fernandez asked PNP Regional Director Silverio Alarcio for additional six policemen describing the city police's strength as "way below the standard" set forth by the National Police Commission.
Based on the 2004 survey the city with 22 barangays has a population of 184,238. The city police is composed of 80 PNP members and officers and two of them would retire within this year while another three will retire next year, said Fernandez.
Fernandez said more policemen will be needed "to beef up their depleted strength." - Liv G. Campo
