Eight members of a fraternity took turns in beating up a young man, who they mistook as a member of a rival fraternity, during a fiesta in barangay Tugbungan, Consolacion town Friday evening.
The victim was 22-year-old Jesson Abong, a resident of the barangay, who suffered serious injuries from the unexpected beatings.
Consolacion policeman PO3 Francisco Parilla said Abong was walking alone from a friend's house when, upon reaching a dark portion of the street, the group waylaid and beat him up.
Nearby residents noticed the commotion but when they went to verify it, the group ran away leaving the bloodied Abong prone on the pavement.
Abong, who had several bruises on his body, was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Center.
