A press release sent by Veco says areas affected will be barangays Toong, Carreta, and Banilad in Cebu City, and barangays Tunghaan and Cadulawan in Minglanilla town.
Specifically, the earliest power interruption will be in Alta Vista Subdivision of barangay Toong, Cebu City, which will start from 7 a.m. to noontime, for the conduct of pole replacements and line relocation.
The maintenance work entails the erection of 40 concrete poles and the transfer of all line hardware.
By 8 a.m., power outage will hit Doña Rita Subdivision in barangay Banilad to give way as well for the replacement of a pole located along King's North Road.
Power service in the area will be restored by noontime.
Another pole on a private property at barangay Cadulawan in Minglanilla town will have to be replaced by 10 a.m.
The power interruption in the area due to pole relocation and subsequent transfer of all line attachments will last until 2 p.m. and which will affect residents of Deca Homes and Amores Subdivision in barangay Tunghaan and Candulawan Elementary School in barangay Candulawan.
The last power outage for the day will occur from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the replacement of a rotten pole at the back of the Cebu City Health Office in barangay Carreta.
All these line maintenance works will be implemented by the transmission and distribution department of Veco.
The standardization of lines and poles and the consequent power interruption is reportedly part of Veco's major improvement projects to minimize the duration of power outages in the long run and ensure a reliable, safe and stable power supply for the consuming public. - Cristina C. Birondo
