Despite a police order tightening security in school vicinities, a member of Alpha Kappa Rho landed in the hospital after being shot by three men belonging to a rival fraternity in front of his school along Natalio Bacalso Avenue Tuesday afternoon.
Police Homicide Section investigators identified the victim as Mc Dofilu Mayol, 21, a second year college student of Cebu Institute of Technology and a resident of La Teresas, barangay Labangon.
The victim was on his way home with his friend, Christian Arias, when he was shot twice by one of the assailants who waylaid them few meters away from the school gate. One of the attackers, who were alleged to be members of Tau Gamma Phi, was identified only as Glenn.
Concerned citizens rushed Mayol, who sustained a gunshot wound in his right wrist and a graze in his forehead, to Cebu City Medical Center but police said he is now out of danger.
Two weeks ago, Cebu City Police Office director Melvin Gayotin ordered all police stations to assign policemen in school vicinities.
This after a school official from Don Vicente Rama National Night High School informed Gayotin about the presence of youths who are members of gangs and fraternities lurking outside their school and recruiting students to join their group.
