Philpost acquires 49 new mail vans worth P36M

-
The Philippine Postal Corporation has acquired 49 brand new mail vans worth an estimated P36 million (US$653,769.09) from the Quality Service Fund Project of the Universal Postal Union based in Switzerland to speed up its mail distribution services.

Postmaster General Dario Rama said that they have acquired 49 Mitsubishi L-300 mail vans.

Rama noted that the project is expected to augment the present vehicles of PhilPost to be used in the distribution of mails and packages within the country.

He added that the re-fleeting of the mail transport system will ensure faster delivery of services to cities and provinces considering its extensive domestic mail network nationwide.

"We are confident that the recent acquisition of brand new mail vans will boost our capabilities to better serve the mailing public and attract more institutional mailers to patronize the services of PhilPost," Rama said.

Rama added that they will continue to find ways to acquire more mail vans and motorcycles for mail carriers which they will get from cost effective measures his administration is currently undertaking.

To date PhilPost employs a workforce of some 13,800 full-time regular employees and a transport fleet of some 4,839 vehicles nationwide.

The project is funded from a supplement to the terminal dues paid to the Universal Postal Union by industrialized countries in particular.
