An alleged financially depressed 52-year-old woman was found dead hanging from the shower spout inside the bathroom of her house along A. Lopez Street, barangay Calamba, Cebu City, yesterday dawn.
Sergio Genon, 54, said he tried to save his wife Darlina, by performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation but failed.
In his investigation, SPO3 Alex Dacua of the Homicide Section of Cebu City Police Office in his investigation said that it was one of the couple's grandchildren who discovered that their faucet in the toilet was left open and the water was spilling out and informed their grandfather about it.
But the door was locked from the inside prompting him to kick it open. He then saw the victim hanging from the shower spout with a telephone cord tied around her neck.
Dacua said the woman has reportedly been depressed since their multicab and a parcel of land was about to be forfeited by the bank because of debt, while one of her son's is allegedly facing a case in court after being charged with physical injury.
Police investigators found no evidence of foul play since the things at the crime scene were in order and the strangulation mark on the victim's neck was the only injury found on her body.
Meanwhile, a 13-year-old boy and his father were rushed to Cebu City Medical Center after an assailant strafed their house for still undetermined reasons.
The shooting happened in sitio Mahayahay, barangay Calamba, yesterday dawn while Carmelo Abellana and his son Rogel were inside their house.
Police identified the suspect as Roy Caja, 35, of Barangay Tisa who reportedly seen outside Abellana's house armed with a gun of an undetermined caliber when the shooting started.
Each victim suffered a gunshot wound to the right buttock and were rushed to the hospital.
