Lion's Club donates 40,000 pencils to public schools

The Cebu Lion's Club had handed over to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia a total of 40,000 pencils to be distributed to the 953 elementary schools in the province.
Manolo Lao, the council chairman of the Cebu Lion's Club, Jun Tiu, president of the Lion's Host Club Mandaue City and some of the organization's other members were among those who handed the pencils over to Garcia in the presence of Provincial Schools Division Superintendent Recaredo Borgonia.
Garcia yesterday said that Capitol had also purchased bags, notebooks, pad papers and pencils for grades I, II and III students in public elementary schools in the province.
Each grade 1 pupil will receive a schoolbag, three pieces notebooks, a school pad paper and a big jumbo pencil, while grade-II students will receive three notebooks each, and three pencils. Grade-III pupils will each receive three notebooks and one pencil.
Borgonia said that this is the first time that the provincial government had purchased school materials for the public elementary students of the province. - Flor Z. Perolina
