In yesterday's meeting, police officials discussed the concerns of personnel inside the different offices and also agreed to make representations to Mayor Tomas Osmeña for the construction of a new building in CCPO.
Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division-7 chief Augusto Marquez said the move to construct a new city police building was discussed in previous years, particularly during the second term of Osmeña and the incumbency of city police director Antonio Enteria.
However, this failed to realize after the transfer of Enteria and the decision of Osmeña not to seek reelection and give way to former mayor Alvin Garcia.
The proposed building budget then was P25 million.
Another item discussed yesterday was the computerization of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, CPPO chief Supt. Vicente Loot said the computerization program, made possible by the efforts of the provincial government, is now ready and that they are just waiting for the installation of the facilities at their new headquarters in Consolacion town.
Alarcio during his first visit almost a month ago said that he will work on the transfer of the CPPO headquarters to Consolacion within his term.
Also during the meeting, Alarcio told policemen step up efforts to bring vigilantes to justice, this after another man was shot dead vigilante-style infront of the Carreta cemetery last Tuesday, bringing the number of victims to 165.
He also ordered an investigation into the alleged threats on Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano who announced last Independence Day that he is among the targets of 80 terrorists who are now reportedly in Cebu.
Ouano said his son-in law Nixon Dizon received a call from the intelligence group last week and told him about the presence of these terrorists, they also told him to tell the mayor to beef up his security. - Jose P. Sollano and Gregg M. Rubio
