3 dead in stabbing, shooting incidents

Three people were killed in three separate stabbing and shooting incidents in the wake of the Independence Day observance in the province last Monday.

The first victim was identified as farmer Agapito Diama, 62, a resident of barangay Santikon, Badian town, who sustained five stab wounds that caused his instant death.

Police reports said the victim was going with his neighbors, Sonny Villaroya, Polin Amar and Deloy Endrecoso, to a fiesta celebration in barangay Maloray, Dalaguete at around 4:30 p.m. when a lone assailant suddenly appeared and stabbed the victim.

At about 9 p.m., shoemaker Democrito Lausa was shot to death by two persons identified only as Romel and Nelson inside his house in sitio Mahayahay, barangay Liboron, Carcar town.

The victim was hit in different parts of his body and died instantly.

At about 9:45 p.m. on the same day, Ronel Pantonial was shot dead by unidentified attackers in barangay Poog, Toledo City. The assailants opened fire at the victim five times and immediately fled toward different directions.

Police investigation disclosed that Pantonial was on his way home riding a motorcycle driven by a certain Gil Lituanias when he was attacked.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and was brought by bystanders to the Toledo City District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. - Gregg M. Rubio
