Aloguinsan to celebrate Kinsan fest on June 17

-
The municipality of Aloguinsan finally has its own festival called the Kinsan Festival to be held on June 17.

In a news conference yesterday morning at the Capitol Session Hall, Mayor Cynthia Moreno proudly announced the birth of the said festivity that was conceptualized in coordination and with great help coming from famous Cebuano choreographer Val Sandiego.

Inspired by the zest of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia in promoting local tourism in various towns and municipalities all over Cebu, Moreno said they seriously mulled over coming up with their own festivity, which gave birth to the Kinsan festival.

Moreno explained they chose to call the festivity Kinsan because it is a kind of fish that breeds in abundance in their municipal waters and where they got the name of their town. Aloguinsan is reportedly the name of the head of the kinsan fish.

The said festival, to be launched on June 17, promises to be a gastronomic experience of kinsan fish, which will be cooked in various recipes.

In its press release, it said Kinsan Festival is the first-ever food, agriculture and cultural heritage festival in the southwestern part of Cebu.

On the other hand, Moreno hopes to market their abundant kinsan catch to nearby municipalities and even outside Cebu.

The mayor further said the preserved natural beauty of their beaches and other attractions in her town will surely enthrall and lure tourists to come back.

If there is one good thing that the bad condition of the national road leading to her town has contributed, Moreno said, it is that fact that they have been able to preserve the natural beauty of their place as no investor has yet ever explored Aloguinsan town.

In relation to this, the municipal council is now on the process of formulating an ordinance that seeks to declare the salvage zone of the Aloguinsan shoreline as protected area.

Yesterday's press conference showed a glimpse of how the kinsan fish can be prepared.
