Book on Cardinal Vidal to be launched soon

A coffee table book about Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal will soon be launched in Cebu this year entitled "Zugbu ug Vidal" according to the Cebu Archdiocese.

The book, which will be launched on August 22, is in line with the archdiocese celebration on the year of jubilees of Cardinal Vidal.

The said book will feature people who have made significant contributions to the cardinal as well as the events, places and projects of Vidal. The book launching is only one of the activities for this year's celebration.

Aside from that, the month of June is also the archbishop's anniversary as an adopted son of Cebu City. He was named as such on June 22, 1985 through a resolution by the late mayor Ramon Duterte.

On June 24, there will also be a "halad sa mga religious" and on July 11 to 15, the Cebu Archdiocese will also hold its Cebu Clergy Inter-District Sports League.

Catholic Schools will also participate in the event through the Halad sa Katolikong Tunghaan and on October will be the Halad sa mga seminaristas.

On November 30 is the 35th Episcopal Anniversary and Blessing and Inauguration of John Paul II's Home for the Priests. This will be followed by the Archdiocesan Pilgrimages to be led by Vidal.

Earlier, a media and photo exhibit of Vidal was held in Ayala Center on January 29 to February 7 in line with the celebration of the year of jubilees.

It featured the different photographs of the cardinal in his life as a priest, as archbishop of Cebu and as a cardinal.

The said event is one of a series of events for the celebration of the year of jubilees of Vidal in his 25 years of service as Archbishop of Cebu, 50 years as priest and 35 years as cardinal to the masses. - Jasmin R. Uy
