2 die, 1 hurt in Naga, Balamban shootings

Two persons were killed while another one was seriously injured when they were attacked by unidentified motorcycle-riding men in two separate shooting incidents in the towns of Balamban and Naga on Wednesday and Thursday.

The slain victims, Jonathan Sonedo, 36, and Apolinario Tanghinan, 30, all of sitio Pilit, barangay Nangka, Balamban, were fired upon by two assailants using a .45 caliber pistol.

Police investigation revealed that the victims were talking outside Sonedo's house at around 7: 30 in the evening when the assailants arrived and immediately shot them four times.

Sonedo, who was hit in his left armpit and left knee, was rushed to Balamban District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Tanghinan was also hit in his left armpit and died instantly.

The assailants fled on board a motorcycle parked a few meters away from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, three men shot a certain Glyx Valencia, 46, inside his house at around 7: 30 in the evening on Thursday in sitio Bayong, barangay Inayagan, Naga town.

Police investigation revealed that the victim and his wife were sitting inside their house when the assailants arrived onboard a motorcycle. Two of the attackers then entered the house and opened fire at the victim several times, hitting him in different parts of his body.

The assailants immediately fled towards the national highway while the victim was rushed to South General Hospital in Tuyan, Naga.

Police are still conducting investigation into the motives of the twin shootings. - Gregg M. Rubio
