Man shot dead, vigilantes blamed

Another man was shot dead the other night along Ayala Access Road in barangay Hippodromo, Cebu City.
Mark Gil Matugas, 21, a resident of the place, died after he was shot at close range in the right side of his face.
Based on the statement of the victim's mother Imelda, the two assailants arrived on board a motorcycle. The passenger got off, approached the victim and shot him in the face for no reason at all.
The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
Homicide Section chief Mario Monilar said based on the information they have gathered the victim was involved in the drug trade in the area. He also said they cannot yet confirm if this was a vigilante killing. - Flor Z. Perolina
