2 arrested Indons set to be deported

-
The two Indonesian nationals who were arrested after bringing their dead companion to a funeral parlor without informing the management of the hotel they were staying at and the police over his death were brought yesterday to the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation.

Bernard Labene and Oscar Dalege were identified as among the 11 Indonesians who hijacked two sea vessels, TB Martha and IK Santana from Indonesia, and sold them to a businessman in Davao City.

The two, who were detained for two weeks at the Camp Sotero Cabahug, were turned over yesterday to the BID for deportation proceedings after the Cebu City Police Office failed to file a case against them.

BID regional director Leobarlo Enad said they have already prepared the charge sheet against the two Indonesians for their deportation.

He said that after the two Indonesians failed to produce documents for their stay in the country, their names were immediately endorsed to the BID office in Manila for their deportation.

Enad added that Indonesian embassy officials have already coordinated with the BID, as they wanted to get Labene and Dalege so their government could file cases against the two.

Enad is waiting for a feedback from the BID office in Davao where a deportation case will be filed against the Indonesians.

Nine other Indonesian companions of Labene and Dalege were also arrested last May 16 in Maco, Davao del Norte. They were identified as Bayu Arden Mahardita, David Sarira, Hariyono, Mohammad Firqah, Bornok Ricarde, Hariyanto, Suwandi Siagian, Achmad and a certain Daniel.

They were arrested in Davao after leaving Cebu City following the death of their companion, Francisco Vidal, who was later identified as Johannes Taruc, also an Indonesian. - Flor Z. Perolina
