A man, who admitted to be a pimp for women in barangay Kamagayan, was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday after the court found him guilty for selling a pack of shabu to a poseur buyer of the police almost three years ago.
Regional Trial Court judge Enriqueta Belarmino also slapped a P500,000 fine against Dave Wenceslao, all for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Wenceslao was arrested after he sold a pack of shabu to a poseur buyer during a buy-bust operation of Fuente Osmeña station policemen on August 13, 2003.
During the trial, Wenceslao defended by trying to convince the court that the arresting officers were just angry with him and wanted to get back at him for his failure to provide them with female sex workers at the time.
He also claimed they got mad at him because one of them reportedly contracted venereal diseases after having sex with one of the women he pimped earlier.
But Judge Belarmino rejected Wenceslao's claims saying these were very flimsy reasons against the drug charges he had been accused of.
"Even his allegation that the policeman was angry because he contracted venereal disease is unsubstantiated," said the judge.
Judge Belarmino then ruled: "Bare denial of the accused cannot outweigh the direct and positive declarations of the police officers." - Rene U. Borromeo
