PB lauds NFA's rice exchange scheme

- Jose P. Sollano -
The Provincial Board has approved a resolution supporting the program of the National Food Authority aimed to reduce the cost of transportation of milled rice from other provinces.

PB member Victor Maambong lauded the program introduced by NFA called the rice exchange scheme, wherein private entities may deposit their milled rice in designated NFA warehouse in one province, but rice dealers can withdraw the same quality of stock in any designated warehouses in other provinces.

According to Maambong, the said rice exchange scheme introduced by NFA aims to reduce the cost of fuel when transporting sacks of milled rice between provinces to other provinces with NFA warehouses.

The program introduced by NFA has also the support by the grain retailers association in the country. Teresa Alegado, national president of the Grains Retailers Confederation of the Philippines, said they supported the program introduced by NFA because the program benefits their members.
