National government workers in CV get midyear, cash incentives

Midyear incentives and cash gift worth P2,500 for employees of some national government agencies in the region were already released this week according to the Department of Budget and Management-7.
Leticia Llamedo, DBM information officer, said that some of the national government agencies under them already received their midyear and extra cash bonus on the first week of May.
Under DBM are the employees of state colleges and universities, Technical Education Skills and Development Administration, Department of Education, Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Health.
Other agencies like the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, other bureaus and Cabinet offices are still under a centralized distribution scheme.
Llamedo said some agencies received their Notice of Cash Allocations last week.
The said national government employees received 50 percent of the mandated 13th month pay plus the P2,500 cash gift.
"Unlike some private companies, what we government workers receive is only half a month's salary," Llamedo said.
Just very recently, the national government agencies also received differentials of P1,000 on top of the P500 monthly additional compensation granted by President Arroyo instead of the eight percent increase in the basic salary mentioned last December.
The additional compensation was granted through an Executive Order and the mandatory midyear incentive was released even with the 2006 Annual Budget still pending before the Senate.
The early release of the economic benefit is intended to help them pay the tuition and other expenses of their children at the opening of the schoolyear in June.
Around P10.85 billion was released to cover the partial payment of bonus and cash gift for the more than a million government employees.
