Dad moves to monitor kids roaming around public areas
May 6, 2006 | 12:00am
Councilor Procopio Fernandez has filed a resolution seeking to look into the activities of children who frequent public places during wee hours, saying that some of them might be engaged in petty crimes such as snatching.
Most of these minors are roaming around Cebu City Fish Market (formerly the Pasil Fish Market), Tabo-an Public Market and Carbon Market.
Fernandez requested Cebu City Police Office director Melvin A. Gayotin to activate foot patrol and police visibility at major public markets and other public places in the city in order to curb the rising cases of petty crimes.
Fernandez also requested the city's barangay captains to coordinate with police stations within their jurisdiction to solve the problem.
The councilor also asked police to coordinate with the Department of Social Welfare and Services to find ways to help these children. - Chris Martina Gestopa
